Hair Removal Methods to Consider
There are numerous reasons why a person would want to remove hair from the body
. In most cases the reasons are esthetics. Over the course of years we have gone from regular hair removal methods like shaving to more advanced efficient methods such as laser hair removal and hair inhibitors. So here are the basic hair removal methods used today that you may want to consider.
Shaving is the most commonly used hair removal method in the world; it usually lasts about one to three days. Shaving is quite inexpensive and very easy to use; all that is needed is a shaver, water, and some skin care product like shaving cream. On the other hand cons of shaving are plenty; it can cause cuts, nicks, ingrown skin, razor burn etc
Very large number of men and women opt for plucking as a hair removal method. Plucking is done mostly by using tweezers to pull out the hair. This method lasts longer, usually between three and eight weeks. Epilators also fall under plucking hair removal method. This is quite inexpensive method, but it can be very time consuming and it can lead to skin irritation, it can be painful and it can also cause ingrown hairs.
A very interesting method most women use and men fear is waxing. Warm wax is applied over the area where the hair grows and a cloth is applied over it, the hair is removed by quickly pulling on the cloth and thus pulling out the hair. The effects of this method can go from three to six weeks. Waxing is also an inexpensive method and it will leave the skin smooth, which most women want. The biggest fault of this method is that it is very painful, in some cases it can lead to major skin irritation so it is advised to let a professional handle waxing.
Laser removal is currently the hottest hair removal method. Laser removal is done by pointing a laser to the follicle of the hair and it stops the growth. This is a great method to stop the hair growth, but it is rather expensive. In some cases the hair growth will be stopped permanently, but in most cases people will need to go once or twice a year for another treatment.
Another popular method today is prescription treatment or use of hair inhibitors. It consists of creams that are applied to the skin where the hair grows once or twice a day. The effect is that the hair becomes softer and lighter over time. This is a great method to slow down the hair growth, stop it permanently or just make your hairs lighter and smoother; it all depends on the preparation you use.
If you are not sure which of these methods is good for your skin, especially the hair inhibitor products, you should consult your dermatologist to make sure. Side effects of each of these methods can be severe with some people, so it is always best to check before you start using a hair removal product.
