On that note; the first step that one needs to take for them to start the journey to the career of their dreams is to attend a cosmetology school or a beauty school if you like. Be advised that the basic hairdressing course offered in an accredited beauty school can take about six to twelve months so if you're not willing to spend this time learning this craft then you're better off seeking another profession. Another thing you need to keep in mind is that this is a school just like any other so standard regulations and policies apply.

Don't belittle or joke around with the course. Many students have dropped or failed beauty school simply because they thought it would be a walk in the park only to find the opposite. Cosmetology school is and can be an exciting experience for anyone provided they are serious and highly ambitious.

Once you have completed your course and have excelled in the test offered by the state board, you will now be ready to start the process of finding a job. If your intention was to freelance then you can take your license, which was offered to you upon the completion and successful pass of your course, and start your own salon. Be advised thought that it is wise if you simply start by working as an apprentice, that is, working under someone with real world experience in the hairdressing business. Once you are comfortable working on your own you can now start accepting clients officially. Depending on your current skills and how willing you are to stay updated on the upcoming hair trends you can make a significant income that can allow you to live a very comfortable life.
