Halle Berry Breaks Her Foot In Spain
People magazine reports that Halle Berry suffered a broken foot in Spain while walking in Mallorca on a day off from filming.
Berry, who is currently shooting Cloud Atlas was photographed being escorted out of a Spanish hospital in a wheelchair, her right leg in a cast up to her knee.
Sources say the film's director plans to work around the hobbled star by employing a stunt double and shooting Berry from the waist up.
The film, which boasts a star-studded cast, including Hugo Weaving, Tom Hanks, and Susan Sarandon began principal shooting last month in Scotland.
Atlas is based on an award-winning novel by David Mitchell. Berry plays Meronym, one of the few survivors in a post-apocalyptic future.
Another celebrity injury occurred at 'Dancing with the Stars.' Actress and talk show host Ricki Lake suffered a leg injury,"Look, my first injury. #DWTS @derekhough. Don't ask how it happened," Ricki Tweeted, linking to a photograph of her leg, which showed signs of a bruise and a cut. Fortunately a medic was at the location where she rehearses, but Access said the medic was not related to Ricki's incident. The medic was responding to another medical incident, but went to the wrong address, which happened to be where Ricki was rehearsing.
There have been other injuries and maladies on the popular dance show over the years.
Kym Johnson was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital on May 13 of this year, after falling and injuring her neck during a practice session. She and the Pittsburgh Steelers football star were one of four finalists in the 12th season of ABC's ballroom dancing show.
During the same season, actor Ralph Macchio suffered from a ruptured cyst in his knee. In 2009, during season 9, both Derek Hough and Lacey Schwimmer were unable to compete because of an illness and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya stepped in to dance for the week with their partners Joanna Krupa and Mark Dacascos.
In 2008, during season 7, Julianne Hough was hospitalized with appendicitis and Edyta Sliwinska stepped in to take her place and dance with Cody Linley. Fortunately, there are medics on the set of the popular show. Obviously, ABC takes foot and ankle injuries seriously, as everyone should. Of course you don't have to be on 'Dancing with the Stars' to suffer an injury to your leg, ankle or foot.
If you, or someone you love, have injured your ankle, foot or leg, then you need to see a trained foot and ankle specialist as soon as possible.
