Handy Advice On The Problem Of Stretch Marks
Make no bones about it--getting your stretchmarks to vanish is not a simple procedure
. In fact, if you can avoid getting stretch marks in the first place, by all means do so. Still, once you have them it isn't the end of the world and there are ways to erase scars like stretch marks if not permanently (laser treatments) then temporarily with make-up tricks.
Now, as to stretch marks and their elimination by way of laser surgical procedures, there are basically two options available.
If you find your skin scars are of a colorful variety (namely red) then you can opt for pulsed-dye surgery to improve your skin's appearance. Yet anther way, should your marks be older and lacking any coloring other than the natural skin tone, is called fractional laser surgery which is a stretch mark treatment for those stretch marks made some time previous.
There is, with scars of the stretch mark kind, an unfortunate swelling that many times comes along with redness to newly made marks, and this is where pulsed-dye surgical technique comes in.
Your skin's health is closely related to such factors as elastin and collagen, which this type of surgery can encourage and promote. You don't want your skin to lack in production of these essential elements, or it will take on a dry, unattractive tone. So pulsed-dry surgery can be your best bet in such cases. However, at the point that your scars are just white in color, this surgery has unremarkable effects.
In such a case fractional laser is what your skin-expert will likely recommend. A fresh influx of collagen together with epithelial cells can be induced by this kind of laser application. In fact, the overal glow of the skin can be a nice bonus from the fractional procedure.
Another popular strategy that anyone can try on their own, is the application of makeup to unsightly scars. But if the area you want to cover in this manner is out of reach, you may need a helper to apply the makeup. And remember, using any creams or makeup on a pregnant belly is not a good idea without consulting first with your physician as to any dangerous side-effects.
So if you are going for the make-up approach you may find it has a tendency to transfer to your clothing, so what to do?
Try this as a solution: lotions that simulate sun-tanning without having to actually sit for hours in the UV-rays (not a good idea whether you have scars or not.) These artificial tanning creams work quite effectively and usually have a a moisturizer effect as well that gives your skin a plumper look. Another drawback to actual sun-tanning is that it may do nothing for your white scars, and if fact make them even more noticeable.
It may sound like trying to fix a problem after the horse has left the barn, as they say, but if you can prevent stretch marks occurring at all, that is the hands-down way to go. As one celebrity was quoted as saying: 'moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! That's my secret!' And a sensible secret it is too, as any skin that is regularly moisturized with skin care products, especially those with vitamin-E and other additives, will certainly be less likely to develop stretch marks.
Remember that your skin, like the rest of your body, was given to you by your parents at birth, and to a large extent, this determines how rapidly and how noticeably you age so don't be overly concerned with your skin's appearance. After all, it's in your genes and the best attitude to have is 'make the most of what you got!'
