Harbin Ice and Snow World to open on Dec. 24th

The construction work on the Tenth Annual Harbin Ice and Snow World began on Tuesday

December 2nd and it is expected to open to visitors on December 24th.

The theme for this year's Harbin Ice and Snow World is "Ice and Snow World welcomes the Harbin 24th Winter Universiade". The universiade will be held from February 18th to February 28th, 2009.

This year, the Ice and Snow World will be expanded in area, moved north to the previous location, and be divided into five theme exhibitions: City of the Winter Universiade Flame, Passionate Winter Universiade, Dreaming New Era, Magnificent Ice and Snow World.140,000 cubic meters of ice and 100,000 cubic meters of snow will be used to create more than 2,000 pieces of ice art works.

During the coming festival, advanced LED (Light-emitting diode) technology will be adopted to illuminate the ice and snow art works, making the sceneries more vivid and dynamic.

A series of performances and other amusing activities will be held during the event.

The admission ticket for the Ice and Snow World will be all-inclusive, and other amusement activities free of charge. The ticket is priced at CNY 150 for adults and is available for students and children at half price.
