Basina is small and quiet village on the northern side of the island of Hvar. The village is located between three beautiful coves. Basina is surrounded by vine yards, lavender fields, olive trees and pine woods. Basina is located 8 kilometers from Jesla, 7 kilometers from Stari Grad, 5 kilometers from Vrbovska and 25 kilometers from Hvar town. By the sea, it is equally distanced from Jelsa, Vrboske and Bol on the island of Brac (about 3 nautical miles) which is suitable for small boats and speedboats.

For tourists that prefer a peaceful vacation in unspoiled natural surroundings, Basina represents an ideal place for vacation. Basina is not crowded with tourists and it is far enough from a car rush. The sound of crickets is the only sound that tourists can hear. There are about 140 houses in the village which are mostly summer houses. Also, there is just one grocery store opened in the summer time. There are no hotels. The tourists can find accommodation in private apartments and rooms. Local people are very hospitable. It is not unusual for hosts to treat their guests with island's specialties.

Tourists can relax and enjoy in mild climate and beautiful beaches. They can sunbathe on the stone surfaces or jump off the cliffs into the sea. The area is suitable for children. During vacation, tourists can enjoy in sports activities. Divers can enjoy in crystal clean sea which has a rich marine flora and fauna with various sorts of shellfish and fish. The area is suitable for surfers, especially for beginners.

Tourists can spend their time riding a bike along the vineyards and olive groves. While riding a bike, they can discover the beauty of the island and explore many beautiful hidden locations.

Hiking through the island's hills and rocky shores is an ideal recreation for tourists who like adventure sports. They don't need a lot of experience for hiking through the island. After hiking in the nature they will feel pleasantly tired and fulfilled.

The island nights are very romantic so tourist can take a walk and enjoy the islands scents.

The island of Hvar was placed on the list of the ten most beautiful islands in the world by the Traveller Magazine. It is well known as the sunniest island in Croatia with an annual average of 7.7 hours of sunshine per day and as many as 2843 hours of sun per year.
