Have You Ever Stopped To Think About Labels?

Every year I take the summer and spring to can fresh fruits

, vegetables and jams with my family. We love this time of year and my family looks forward to having the fresh products in our home for the rest of the year. When we run out of our jarred products it is a sad day especially if it isn't time to do those fruits or vegetables again. As we get done with all of it there is one thing you can count on hearing from my mom. She always comments that we need to label our jars with the year that we did it. We always tease her that they will be gone before the next year, but we still label them.

One year I didn't label my jars and then we didn't finish them up when it was time for the new canning. They got mixed up and I commented to my husband that I had wished I would have listened to my mom about labeling my jars.

Have you ever paid attention to how much you count on labels? My sister-in-law cannot eat anything wheat and so I hear her commenting all of the time that she has to read the labels on her products or when she is in the store. That is what determines what she can purchase. For some of us we count on the labels on our products to know when they expire or what products they are. Have you ever taken a label off of a can or had it peel off? You figure by the shape or the size that you won't forget what it is. Then when you go to use it you realize you have no idea what is in the can.

The list of places that you see or rely on labels is endless. It can be in a doctor's office or in the hospital or in an office to organize their files. Have you ever stopped to think about the mass printing of labels that it takes for marking all of these cans or products that you purchase? There are definitely labeling systems that make it easy to do this process. Could you imagine sitting and labeling all of the different things that you have in your home? It would take forever. It is nice that there are companies that make it easy for others to enjoy the luxury of having things labeled.
