Having a Dream + Action = The Law of Attraction

Having a Dream + Action = The Law of Attraction

No dream was ever accomplished without taking action. You need to move and do, following a proven pattern for success, to make things happen. If you're still unsure about your dream, remember to take action anyway. When you move, one way or another, you'll get feedback.

You might want to adopt the idea of ready-fire-aim. When things go well, you are on track and what you're doing reflects your purpose. If things don't work and you're unhappy and out of balance, it's likely that you are not living according to your purpose. You need to aim again. This feedback is valuable. Learn from it. Determine what you need to do next, ask for help when necessary, and go forward. Keep building your business or profession and moving towards your dream of doing what you love to do one step at a time and one day at a time.

Those who don't take action simply stagnate. They sit at home, out of work, on unemployment compensation or welfare, or in an ungratifying dead-end career, and they "die" inside. They complain and refuse to take responsibility for actions that got them where they are. Instead, they blame others. They may even throw a "pity party."

But guess what? Nobody comes! You may know some people like this. Insulate yourself from their negativity. By their refusal to move on, they become their own worst enemy. Doing something worthwhile requires thought and purpose, and often means the person needs to stop feeling sorry for themselves. Until they begin taking positive action, they won't start to truly live or happily fulfill their purpose.

Andrew Shue, the actor, created a nonprofit organization for young people called "Do Something." Young people apply for grants from this organization to do local community projects. Shue's organization has positively influenced many youngsters around the U.S., and serves as a great role model for others. He believes "the bottom line" is that people need to take action; to "Do Something" so things can get better.

Maybe you have written out your life purpose. You may have developed a short statement describing your dream explaining exactly how you want to live. If so, that's terrific! You're probably fired up about it. Focus on your dream statement for a while and see, feel and hear it happening. After reflection, you may want to change it a bit, and that's fine.

As you're striving for it, your dream is always "a work in progress." It grows as you grow and become. Only share this dream with your leader or mentor or supportive spouse. This is a deeply personal and private statement and one that may be new and tender to youlike an infant. Protect it and keep it close to your heart. Don't tell negative-thinking people about your dream. They could be jealous of you and try to douse the flames of your fire.

The immense value of knowing your life purpose is shown in this story. A highly-respected doctor who has been enormously successful found that he was getting burned-out. He had money, success and fame. What he really wanted and loved to do, though, was spend more time with his family. He was working almost all the time to give his wife and children a lifestyle he'd personally never have.

So one day, he started building another business and, in two years, replaced his income. He was able to leave his medical practice and now has the time and energy to do what he wants with the people he loves. As he discovered, life is much more meaningful when you live it in line with your purpose.

We all live in accordance with our philosophy of life, which determines how our life develops. Just as in sailing, when the way the sail is set determines which way the boat goes, a person's mindset determines the direction of their life.

If you don't know what your vision is by now, that's okay. Keep moving anyway. Pick a practicedream to use for taking action. It could be something you really want, even though may not be your ultimate dream. It might be just one small part of it, or it might be a goal you've had for some time and haven't yet completed. It needs to have meaning and value for you; one that excites you enough to achieve it.

Using this practice dream will give you the opportunity to learn about taking action with tools that can be applied to any dream or goal in your life. The important thing is you need focus on something positivesomething to aim for.

If you're not sure what your ultimate dream is, take a moment now to verbalize and write down a practice dream. Start with the two words "I am" and then use "ing" verbs to complete the sentence. Rewrite the sentence until it feels right. Keep it fairly short so you can easily remember it. Once you have it, keep it where you'll see it often.

Whether you are working with your ultimate life dream or your practice dream, you now have a statement which you can refer to and turn into reality. Great! You persisted, created a result, and you now have a track to run on. That's what realizing your dream is all aboutdoggededly persevering, focusing and taking action on it, until you make it a reality. Remember, as Helen Keller once said, "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."

Now Take These Action Steps

Write a "dream statement" of something you truly want which is in tune with your life purpose and favorite activities. You can use a smaller dream to practice with.

Spend some time mentally picturing your dream in as much detail as possible, as if it is totally real and you are now living it.
