Hcg Injections Vs. Hcg Drops: Which Is Best For You?
As the New Year rolls around, many Americans will make that age-old commitment to lose weight once and for all
. If you are completely committed to your weight loss goals, and have decided that the HCG diet is right for you, you now have to decide if you want to receive the hormone via injection or by drops. Here's a quick look at both methods of administration and you can decide which might be better for you.
HCG Diet Overview
HCG hormone is naturally produced by the body when a woman becomes pregnant: its role is to maintain the right amount of progesterone levels necessary to a successful pregnancy. Doctors discovered that injecting low doses of HCG into overweight patients combined with prescribing an ultra-low calorie diet resulted in loss of actual fat instead of a combination of fat and desirable lean muscle tissue. The HCG hormone does not cause the actual weight loss: rather, it helped dieters' regimens to work better for them by optimizing fat burning and resetting the hypothalamus.
HCG Injections vs. HCG drops
Injections are self-administered and are given once a day. HCG drops are taken sub-lingually (under the tongue) and must be taken 6 times a day for maximum effectiveness. If you are scared of needles or do not like the idea of giving yourself shots, then HCG drops are by far a less anxiety-provoking method. However, when using drops you have to be self-disciplined enough to remember to use them several times a day and be committed to taking them with you wherever you go (they are easy to carry, however).
There is virtually no difference whatsoever in the results of either method: patients report a 20-30 pound weight loss within about a month no matter which administration technique they prefer. However, those who use the drops like the fact that there is absolutely no pain with this method and therefore no anxiety as there is with injections.
The Cost Comparison
The cost of injections vs. HCG drops is probably the factor that makes the most difference to dieters. The average cost of a course of injections can be as much as 700 dollars, whereby the same course of HCG drops costs a fraction of that amount: 85 dollars. In addition, when using injections you will need to visit a doctor on a periodic basis which will inevitably add to the cost of this type of program.
If the HCG diet is in your future, make sure to research both methods of administration, choose the one with which you will be most comfortable, and your weight loss regimen will be much more likely to be a successful one.
