, Edinburgh, Scotlands capital city, is an inviting place to spend a weekend or a short break. The train journey from London takes about four and a half hours, and passes through vastly contrasting scenery including the powerhouse industrial areas of Yorkshire, the seclusion of Northumberland, and the grand sea views as the train winds through the Scottish borders.

A local train takes visitors the short journey north of the city, and stops at North Queensferry and Dalmeny stations close to either bank of the Firth of Forth, from where spectacular views of both the road and rail crossings are a short walk away.

And of course, Edinburgh bursts into life every August and September with the original city festival. The Edinburgh International Festival and its equally highly-regarded Fringe offer more than three weeks of world-class film, dance, drama, music and comedy.

While the city already has excellent train, bus and taxi services, it is being further transformed with the addition of a new, modern tram network, which will operate from the airport in the west, to the port town of Leith in the east. This will make getting around even easier.

This is sure to add further to the appeal of exploring all that the city and its surroundings have to offer without the burden of heavy luggage. This is easy thanks to Edinburgh left luggage facilities, which mean that theres no need to have to manhandle items on and off buses and trains, or to be slowed down when getting around.
