Headhunters: Outsourcing Now Permeating Companies Human Resource Requirements

Outsourcing is the name of the game among Canadian businesses nowadays

. A lot of them now outsource some of their customer service and technical support functions to other countries because of the lower cost of operations there compared to that in Canada. Even some of the knowledge processes are also being outsourced, tapping the likes of search engine optimization (SEO) consultants to do a lot of things on their behalf.

Who would even think that some human resources functions are now being outsourced by businesses? Once upon a time, companies maintained in-house human resources units, which was a bit more expensive due to the manpower that were needed in running them. At present, businesses now turn to the likes of headhunters to do some human resources functions like recruitment.

Headhunters are basically tasked to perform certain human resources functions on a client companys behalf, most of which are recruitment tasks. The headhunters are being paid by companies to perform the first several steps in recruitment such as administering exams and conducting the initial interview. When those steps are done, headhunters will then submit their recommendations to the clients, who will perform the remaining steps towards recruiting the potential employee.

A procurement recruiter basically handles much of the recruitment process. The initial steps are the ones that are more expensive for companies since these involve long periods of time and quite a number of employees to administer exams and conduct interviews. This is something that is being offset when a company taps a headhunter for the task since only a service fee will have to be paid by the former to the latter.


All that a purchasing recruiter has to do is to simply follow the instructions given by the client. The kinds of exams to be administered and the set of interview questions to be asked are usually preselected by the headhunters client. All that the headhunter will do is to carry out the process on the clients behalf.

The existence of the likes of a procurement recruiter is proof that outsourcing has already permeated human resource requirement of companies. Sooner or later, many other human resource functions will be outsourced as well, leaving only a handful of people to man the in-house personnel office. Now that is something that will not be too surprising.
