Health Care Reform Means More Opportunities For Master Of Science In Nursing Graduates

Share: As you consider a career in nursing, you also may want to think about how far nursing
has come in just the last couple of decades -- you can get some great ideas as to where you want your nursing career to take you in the years to come.
One result of the recent health care reform bill will be a need for entry-level and advanced practice nurses/Family Nurse Practitioners in the years ahead. Millions of people who were not covered under a health care plan soon will become insured and will be seeking care.
This will create a huge opportunity to anyone who has a bachelor's degree in any subject who has been thinking of entering the nursing field. Many programs across the country now offer what are known as entry level master of science in nursing degrees in which holders of a bachelor degree in any subject may take an intensive training course to sit for the licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Once students pass the licensing exam they then start working as a nurse and take their program'smaster of science in nursing portion of the program part time. Much of the MSN curriculum often is online, thus making it even easier for an RN to earn the master's degree.
In addition, as more and more people seek care, health care will be needing nurses with management in nursing experience as hospitals and other health care facilities work to help implement lifestyle change and illness prevention education among patients.

Share: What's more, advanced practice nurses (nurses such as Family Nurse Practitioners, or other nurses with a minimum of a master of science degree in nursing) could see themselves in real demand, since many FNPs often act as primary-care providers for patients, especially in under-served areas of the country.
Many physicians will retire in the coming years and the health care professions fear a looming physician shortage. Master of science in nursing professionals will be help fill the gaps in physician care.
There's also a critical need for nurses to become faculty in nursing programs in order to train the many new Registered Nurses that will be needed in America in the coming decades. Nurses with a master of science in nursing, or with a nursing doctorate degree, are much needed today to fulfill the critical need for nursing faculty.
So if you're a holder of a bachelor's degree in any subject and the entry level master of science in nursing interests you, rest assured that the training you receive will be in much demand in hospitals, nursing colleges/universities and in health care leadership for decades to come.
