There are however different tips you can follow to avoid affecting your health and continue wearing your heels. The most obvious one is to go for shorter heels. Two or three inches are mostly recommended. Choose a slightly thicker heel as this will spread the load more evenly as compared to sharp heels that put the weight on your soles. Wear soft insoles or gel inserts with all your high heels to reduce the impact on your knees as well as reduce the pain of walking around all day in the high heels. Also sure your shoes fit well and there is no space to give room for your feet to slide forward, putting even more pressure on the toes. Alternatively wear open toed shoes to reduce the discomfort. For closed shoes stretch them by inserting papers inside, to place the feet comfortably.
Wear high heeled shoes occasionally if you cannot avoid shopping for shoes with heels; do not make them your official daily wear as the strain will be greater with time, so ensure you vary your shoes regularly. You are also advised not to wear high heeled shoes for a long time in a day, try walking around the office with flats. Pay attention to the width of the heel when selecting your high heels.
Put on socks or stockings every time that you wear high heels. Stand up straight when walking in high heels and you'll immediately reduce your risk of pain. Wear high heels around the house for a few hours before you go out to give your feet a chance to get used to them before you try something more strenuous like dancing. After long day in high heels massage your feet with sesame oil and exercise your feet by rotating them clockwise and then anti-clockwise daily for 10 minutes.
