Help To Fix Your Hair Dryer

Hair dryer is one of the most common domestic appliances

. It has made such an impact that even some hotels are being equipped with built-in hair dryers in each of their rooms. Hair dyers are inexpensive objects but there are some things that you should test out before you pay for a brand new one. And it is absolutely a wastage of your hard earned money when you can easily fix something yourself. Here are a few ways to learn how to repair a defective hair dryer.

Firstly, unplug the hair dryer. Then grab the nozzle of the hair dryer with one hand while you simultaneously grab the body with the other hand. Now pull the nozzle away from the hair dryer body and mostly these are held by a snug fit. There are some models that are held together with a screw and if there is a screw then remove it first.

Secondly, vacuum the screen filter with a hand held vacuum. The screen filter can become clogged and when it gets clogged; the heating element and motor can become too hot and the thermostat inside the hair dyer forces the appliance to turn off.

Thirdly, unscrew the rest of screws on the body of hair dryer and pull them apart. This enables you to see the rest of the hair dryer components- the motor, switches, and fan should all be visible. Observe each component if you can evidently see any defaults or obstructions. Since hair dryers aren't too intricate, most problems are fairly easy to spot. Anything like clumped hair or melted plastic will be obvious.

Lastly, spray canned air around the elements to remove dust and debris. Take special care not to blow the pressurized air on the wire heaters because these wires are very delicate and so they could become damaged with the strong air stream.

Now place the hair dryer back together and retry. If these steps did not work, simply purchase a new one.

Tips & Warnings:

Tighten the screws that hold the hair dryer together every month to prevent hair from entering the fan compartment. Please be careful enough, to not work on the hair dryer while it is plugged on to an electrical outlet.
