Helpful Tips For People Who Are Taking Part In Speed Dating

Are you new to the dating world? Maybe you haven't dated in a while because it doesn't come naturally for you

. Have you ever considered speed dating? This gives you the opportunity to meet many people all at one venue. Unlike being set up on a blind date only to find later that you have nothing in common with this person; it's really a great way to find someone you have something in common with. Before you embark on this adventure, keep in mind these helpful tips:

1.) First Impressions mean everything. We are all guilty of judging a book by its cover. How tall are they? What do their teeth look like? Do they dress well? Why do we pick up on these first impressions anyways? Well to put it simply: First impressions tell us a lot about a person. Take for instance personal hygiene. If a guy walks up with his hair unkempt, his fingernails dirty, or his teeth unclean, what does that say of that person? It says he doesn't take time on his personal hygiene. If he doesn't take the time to be presentable, this could indicate that he doesn't or will not take time or interest in a partner. So when going to your event, keep in mind that your first impression goes a very long way.

2.) Take along some moral support. There's nothing more nerve racking than being at an event where you know absolutely no one. Having a close friend for support can ease your nerves and help you act more like yourself. You will be able to interact with this close friend in front of prospective dates. This will allow the date to see you in a normal setting behaving true to yourself.

3.) Put your phone on silent! There is nothing worse or more distracting than someone who is constantly on their mobile phone or it is beeping or ringing every 5 minutes - it is extremely rude.

4.) Ask questions and show personal interest. Ask a question and relate to your date on it, try to find common ground. The key to a good flowing conversation is to find something you share in common. Even if you live a relatively boring life, try to find something you enjoy doing to share with your date.

5.) Exude confidence. I cannot stress this enough. Confidence is a hugely important part of Speed Dating; you need to set yourself apart from the rest. In fact, statistics show that women find a less attractive guy more attractive just because he is confident. Confidence is not to be confused with being egotistical. If you are cocky, this will turn most people off. Confidence is being self-assured but not haughty.

6.) Be social. Even if you are relatively shy, try your best to burst out of your shell. No one will approach the person slumped in hiding over in the corner. You have to mingle and show an interest in people. This means, approaching strangers, as awkward as it may be, and introducing yourself.

Always remember: opportunities sometimes arise from nothing, treat everyone with the same respect even if you may not be instantly attracted to them. More often than not, you will get to know someone and they will become attractive to you. Keep an open mind, stay calm and relaxed and you are sure to have an enjoyable time.
