Hemorrhoids - Causes, Symptoms And Methods To Relieve Them

. There are many people who are suffering right along with you. According to studies it is said that approximately half of the population will have had hemorrhoids by the age of 50.

Hemorrhoids are enlarged, swollen veins that are located in the lower rectum and the anus. They can occur both inside the rectum - internal hemorrhoids and outside of the rectum - external hemorrhoids. They are not contagious and not due to poor hygiene despite what some people may think. Anyone of any age can have hemorrhoids, although the majority of symptoms seem to be experienced by people between the ages of 20 and 50.

There is no one particular cause of hemorrhoids. As a matter of fact, there are many contributing factors related to hemorrhoids which may include the following:

* Constipation - straining to have a bowel movement

* Sitting for extremely long periods of time

* Frequent diarrhea

* Added pressure due to pregnancy

* Unhealthy diet - one low in fiber and fruits and vegetables

* Infection or inflammation of the rectum

* Straining from heavy lifting

* Heredity

Hemorrhoids tend to stay with you once you have had them. Their symptoms may be mild to moderate to severe. Many times someone with hemorrhoids may never know they have them because the symptoms are mild and go undetected. However, for those who have moderate to severe cases, the symptoms cannot be ignored.

Symptoms of hemorrhoids include:

Bright red blood found on stool, toilet paper or in toilet after bowel movement

Pain in rectum and around the anus

Burning and irritation around the anus

Mild to extreme itching around anus area due to leaking anal mucus

If you suffer form hemorrhoids there are several things you can to help relieve the symptoms which include:

Warm baths help with relieving pain and discomfort

Ice compresses applied to the anal area helps with swelling and pain

Ointments and creams containing soothing aloe can help with itching and burning

All natural products both in oral and ointment forms can help alleviate symptoms

Adding more fiber to your diet can help to promote healthier stools which will alleviate straining during bowel movements

Drinking more water everyday can also help with bowel movements

If your hemorrhoid symptoms are extreme and none of the above methods help, it is best to see your doctor. He will examine you and help determine the best solution in helping you get relief so that you can get your life back to normal.
