The classic signs vary but are often used as clear indicators that a baby is soon on the way. The excitement of having a child coupled with the constant changes taking place within a women's body can take its toll. Emotions may be going through a whirlwind of adjustments as the body undertakes the gestation process. It is always good to know what to expect.
Fatigue is a common first sign. There is a lot of internal preparation necessary for a new baby. The blood supply increases to facilitate the growing foetus. This takes away a lot of energy from the expectant mother, causing her to sleep more than usual. But getting proper rest is essential to the health of the mother and the child that is on the way.
Other common clues involve tenderness in the area of the breasts. A feeling of heaviness and soreness is the result of the hormonal shifts taking place within the body. It passes as the woman's term matures. Woman may also experience faintness. This may either be hormonal or the result of low blood sugar.
The other early signs of an approaching motherhood are food sensitivities. Even the smell of certain foods may cause a woman to become ill. Women have also been known to have strange cravings, such as the standby ice cream and pickle yearnings. Not every woman experiences cravings or food aversions but is it a very common first sign.
It should be noted that these are common symptoms but they are not unique to only pregnant women. They may indicate something different such as illness or emotional stress. Likewise, you can be pregnant without experiencing any of these symptoms.
The minute you think that you are pregnant, either schedule a pregnancy test at your doctor's office, or take the more expedient option and take a home test. The earlier you do this, the better. A proper diet, prenatal care needs and frequent doctor office visits will all help achieve a safe nine months and ultimately a healthy baby.
