When the honour of organising my best friend's hen party was bestowed upon me, I felt a bit lost. The idea of a night out in a provincial English town, freezing cold in fancy dress made my skin crawl. I loved the idea of us all going away together but as the hen party was in December, there didn't seem much scope for a week in the sun without going long haul. As I searched the internet for suitable getaways I realised that I had overlooked the obvious winter choice- skiing.

A luxury ski holiday really does make an ideal girlie getaway. Luxury ski chalets are available which sleep up to sixteen people, and companies such as Oxford ski or Alpine Elements can co-ordinate the bookings for all of you, sending out itinerary's to each individual and arranging flights from different airports if your party live in different areas of the country. I decided on St Anton ski resort in Austria as our destination because it had a good range of runs which catered for beginners right through to the very experienced and also because St Anton chalets are gorgeous.

St Anton is a bustling, colourful ski resort with fantastic and varied aprs-ski, meaning we could have a big night out if we wanted to, but also eat in superb restaurants and drink mulled wine in laid back bars as well.

St Anton chalets are well worth the extra cost. Luxury ski operators such as Black Tomato and Scott Dunn have specialist teams who will listen to the needs of your party and then match you with the perfect ski resort, range of activities and luxury ski chalets for your group.

Chalets with hot tubs are a definite must as they add a really fun and luxurious feel to the holiday, as do touches such as REN products in the bathrooms, private cinemas, chefs and drivers. Our St Anton luxury ski chalet even had a private chalet host to help us plan our day to day activities, who organised a patisserie making class for all of us. These little extras made the holiday really special as we spent lots of time at the chalet watching films, hanging out in the hot tub and enjoying fantastic meals together. I was really glad we chose a luxury ski chalet as otherwise I think the group would have become fractured as we skied in smaller parties according to our ability, and so were separated on the slopes in the day.

Austria really is a fantastic place to ski and St Anton is known for being a popular choice for early season skiers and when we visited in mid December the snow was fantastic. After having been on a group skiing holiday I would recommend it hands down as a fantastic choice for a girlie holiday or group getaway to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or other special occasion. Chalets with hot tubs, swimming pools and cinemas add an unbeatable feeling of glitz, glamour and incredible relaxation. St Anton chalets particularly are famous for their stunning architecture and added extras.

An exclusive ski holiday was everything I had hoped it would be and much more. I came home fitter, relaxed, rejuvenated and full of happy memories of the fun we all had together.
