Among the third generation of the "loser" racing family, the Peytons, Maggie Peyton is the youngest. Her car, Herbie, is a Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own and emotions that crave attention. The dream they share is to be NASCAR legends. This tale of Herbie and Maggie speaks of victory and defeat, the importance and power of dreams, and of breaking the norms.

Herbie: Fully Loaded is a 2005 Disney production directed by Angel Robinson of the D.E.B.S. fame. It stars Lindsay lohan as the owner of the adorable Herbie. The story starts with Maggie Peyton, the youngest of the Peyton racing family being gifted her graduation present, Herbie. The adorable Volkswagen and Maggie develop a strong bond. Maggie's friend Kevin is a grease monkey, who has a soft spot for Maggie and is one of Herbie's ardent well-wishers. As soon as Maggie selects Herbie, the duo land up at Kevin's shop, thanks to the mischievous Herbie. From here, Herbie takes Maggie to a spare parts shop where they meet the baddie NASCAR champion Trip Murphy. Herbie tricks Maggie into a race with Murphy which they win narrowly. Murphy is expectedly furious. He is unable to identify the driver or find Herbie.

Murphy finally finds a way to lure Maggie and Herbie by organizing a race. Ray Sr., Maggie's father is not happy with the idea of women racing. Also Maggie's last experience with street racing left her hospitalized. So Maggie sneaks out without her father's knowledge and wins Murphy's level one race too. The next leg of the race involves Murphy racing against Maggie. But Maggie is obsessed with the thought of winning Murphy's car in the pink slip final race. This makes Herbie jealous and he purposely loses the race. This leads to a sudden downturn in Maggie's life. Herbie goes to a demolition derby on Murphy's direction. Maggie gets grounded for street racing without permission. Maggie becomes desperate to save Herbie from destruction and with her antics wins back Herbie. Fate leads the Peyton family to a situation where Ray Jr. sends the Peyton crew to help Maggie for professional racing without Ray Sr.'s approval. Will Maggie's life turn around? Will Herbie and Maggie ever be able to race in NASCAR? Will Kevin's adoration ever get recognition? Will Maggie be able to triumph over the evil NASCAR champion Murphy?
