Because of this, there are many new companies which offer IT certification to train any staff member to high levels of conduct so that sensitive material is not disclosed.

Cyber spying has become such a serious offence these days all over the world. Governments have had to find new ways to protect their secrets, and many will actually employ computer hackers on their teams of security personnel because they know all the tricks that other hackers will employ to get into computer systems. The old adage of 'it takes a thief to catch a thief' is used in this instance. Defense systems, and anything on this high level of secrecy, have indeed been hacked into over the past years and this is particularly dangerous if it is one country spying on another. Once the weak spot in their defense system is found, it is only a matter of time before some country or other will try to get what they want by force if necessary. It may also be a good idea to cross train personnel from different agencies or departments in the same kind of way to keep secrets from leaking out. An industry norm can be set up which should help in the fight against this kind of pseudo spying which has lost millions to the unlucky companies.

Therefore, if there was an industry norm in place, most companies, and government departments come to that, would have a far easier job keeping their information away from those who want to do untold damage. This holds particularly true for those companies who have developed some great new gadget or service, which may have cost them several millions to produce, from having it produced by some other company which would steal their thunder. Imagine having some great new product just about to hit the market when someone else introduces it first. What a huge let down this could be to the company.

The public are also very strange creatures too since they will always believe the first people to bring out a product. They just will not see that the secret may have been stolen or that the product was developed before this company brought it out. Further to this, the company which stole the secrets will also price their product below that of the original company as a sort of double insult so that they are certain of getting a bigger market share.

Finally, even if the company has many different departments, it is wise not to let one department know the work being undertaken elsewhere. Bringing in an outside agency to work out how to make sure these people learn that loose talk may cost them their livelihoods is a good thing to do. Taking a blanket approach to security then is the way to keep secrets longer.
