Hiring A Contractor
Every year a roof should be inspected for wear and tear and to make sure the roof is functioning properly
. Early detection of damage can help reduce the cost of hefty repairs. Since most people don"t climb on their roof and have no training on how to look for damage, it is best to have a roofing expert to take a look. Most roofing contractors will perform these inspections free of charge.
Hiring a roofing contractor requires the same caution as hiring any other contractor. You don"t want someone that is not going to be there if there is an issue later on. You want to make sure they are a member of the Better Business Bureau (http://tinyurl.com/bbb-trivan ) and if possible make sure they are accredited. You want them to have good references so ask for a list, even better if they have video testimonials ( www.TriVANroofing.com/testimonials ). You can learn a lot from the performance of a company from their past clients. You want to know if they were satisfied with the work that was performed and if they would use the company again. If a previous customer is not willing to refer a them again why would you want to use them a first time.
Check the type of warranty or guarantees that apply to the work that is performed. Just because you are told that you are getting a warranty make sure you get it in writing. When signing a contract with a contract you want to make sure everything is in writing that you are expecting to get with the job. Never sign a contract with sections that are blank or without a clear understanding of the price of the job.
Many companies are requiring a deposit in order to start a job. If you haven"t checked out the company never give out a deposit. If they must have a deposit, ask to make the deposit when materials are delivered. Once the job is completed to the extent of the contract and you are fully satisfied submit the final payment. If you are not satisfied tell your contractor of any issues that you still have with the job. A ROOFING PROFESSIONAL should listen to your concerns and answer any remaining questions about the job so you are completely satisfied. Never pay in full until the job is completed.
The last thing you need to make sure of is that any contractor you have work for you has insurance. The majority of contractors do not carry insurance on the jobs. So that means it falls to your insurance if there is a problem at the job site. So make sure you take these things into consideration before you hire a roofing contractor.
