His Power

(Joyce Meyer ) let's think about this scripture for a minute

. You kind of have me stirred up now and Isaiah 55:11 came to my heart. I think it would be safe to say that if we're going to spend time in prayer and we're going to wait on god to see what he wants us to pray, then we might say at that time we've become a mouthpiece for god. Isaiah 55:11 says: so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth; it shall not return to me void [without producing any effect, nor be useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

(Dutch) those words he was talking about that wouldn't return void were not being spoken by him directly. He was talking about what Isaiah was prophesying or declaring. The same thing is true in Jeremiah 1:12 where he said, "I watch over my words to perform them." and in numbers 23:19, "god is not a man that he should lie." there's a Hebrew word in all three of those that I teach on but the point in all of those references is there wasn't some message belching out of the sky. God was talking about the words in all three of those passages that he was speaking through a person.

The word for accomplish there and "what I"ll perform and I"ll hasten my words to perform them," the Hebrew word "asa" is a word that means not only do or accomplish or perform, but it's one of the two Hebrew words for creation or create. You'll find the word all through scripture that when god created the earth or the waters or the seas, it's this particular word. I believe there is creative power in god's word. I'm not talking about getting weird and trying to create matter, but I am talking about when there's something lacking, when something is needed from god's perspective -- his power -- he will lead us to become his voice. And the words that we speak for him do not return to him void but he creates with them, he performs with them, he prospers through those words and it's up to us to listen, find out what he wants to do, take the initiative and then say them. Even the New Testament word for confession, which I know a lot of people have gone squirrely with it but it's biblical -- there's life and death in the power of our words -- and the biblical word for confession means to say the same thing.
