Hockey, I don't Understand. As You Can Tell I am Not Canadian. Hockey Their Favorite Sport

Watching hockey on television seems boring to me, butI am sure the hockey fans would say they do not understand how I watch National Football League, National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, and Nascar on television.

I grew up in the so called mid south in Memphis, Tennessee area except for a two and a half year excursion to Phoenix, Arizona ( I loved Arizona. I did not want to leave at all). Two places with no hockey influence definitely. When I grew up in the 70's and 80's there were only hockey teams in the northeastern part of the United States and all of Canada.

I was raised on the NFL a Los Angelos Rams fan (now St. Louis Rams). I remember Eric Dickerson dominating the whole league year after year. I watched The NBA as Dr J (Julius Erving - The Original Creative Dunk Artist!) duke it out with Los Angelos Lakers Magic Johnson who would dominate just about every part of the floor especially with his awesome passes to open team mates. Larry Bird (hated him)used to put a dagger in my heart year after year as he kept beating Philly except for when Philly won NBA Championship in 1983. Isiah Thomas with his Detriot Piston team mates delivering the intense painful"no layups eat the wood" mantra. I can not not forget the greatest basketball player ever. Michael Jordon of course, He dominated the game. He is the most mentally tough basketball there has ever. He always found ways to always improve on his game. One of his beliefs is at all costs i will find ways to dominate and embarrass you all night long. I loved watching his effortless play as he floated up and down the court. Major League Baseball, to where I collected around seven thousand cards. I saw Richard Petty dominate NASCAR then I found my favorite driver Jeff Gordon.

It seems to me hockey is like soccer on ice except instead of a ball you have puck and hockey stick with ice skates. Hockey is unique I admit with the unconventional 3 periods, 2 breaks since I am used to 4 quarters, 4 periods, 9 innings, and 500 miles. I believe the main allure for hockey is the fights and nasty hits with major concusions. Seeing blood come spitting out and teeth flying everywhere as the crowd roars in major excitement as the one guy gets his trip to the penalty box with a big grin on his face as he serves his time. The other hockey player who got ambushed goes to the locker room as his head is like a giant hurricane sturring inside. To recover from his concusion he has to miss 4 weeks due to the violence he suffered. I went to 2 hockey games live to see my local team the Florida Panthers one year a part. I must admit it was very exciting. crisp, smooth game with players flying on the ice making sharp, quick passes. The hits that were done were amazing. The hockey crowd was deeply involved in the game with superb enthusiasm.
