Media has basically captured almost 50 percent of the rest time of a single person in every family and even watching movies and TV programs has become a household activity. This constitutes about 4 to 8 hours a day on a working day and almost 10 to 12 hours during weekends. Thus the media is becoming one of the most influential modes of information conveyance available today. Of course, this includes the cellphones or the internet of which the same information offered in televisions and in theaters may also be available to be accessed. Nevertheless, the main concern here is not about the mode but the content of the information being suggested. Inasmuch as information is concerned, currently misrepresentation and fictional depictions often would seem to be factual. Thus the medical field is sending forth some guideline or at least a correction about how the media is portraying the medical field parading nurses in hospital uniforms, doctors in lab coats and dentists in dental uniforms with all those skills and issues shown to be real but really just a work of creative writing.

Producers and major television owners are now buying the high demands of the shows about nurses, doctors, or the medical field. There is just a trend that makes this topic or at least shows that represents medical professionals to be upbeat. ER, House, Grey's Anatomy, Hawthorn, Third Watch, Three Rivers, Trauma, and Mercy are just some of the many shows in television that garners viewership across the nation. There are also those crime shows that has in a way one nurse, paramedic, or a medical scientist wearing a lab coat that is featured thus making it also possible candidate for medical themed shows.

There is nothing wrong with the medical profession being animated in these type of shows although many real nurses and real doctors in real medical scrubs that clamor foul at some of the portrayals in these works of fiction. Mainly, nurses according to one magazine, don't typically just burn to the desire of dating a doctor or that that connotation is a standard. Here are other wrong connotations or portrayals of the medical profession in many of the medical themed TV shows:

When a patient has been out of the operating room, it cannot simply make a conversation as he/she is still sedated by the time. Maybe TV shows just include this to cut time and put in a great drama to satisfy the script.

There are places where patients are restricted and they just don't have the freedom to roam around the ER or anywhere else. So maybe the producers are missing on this point.

The defibrillator is not that strong to send a body up the bed unlike what these shows portrays. Again, maybe these types of scenes are included to create more drama or to elaborate a scene.

Nurses dominate doctors in terms of number in a hospital even at huge hospitals. So possibly Dr. Grey's colleagues are just doing it the wrong way or their producers might be.

Doctors do not do rounds to get blood to determine something wrong about you or make studies out of it. The real persons who are going to draw blood from you are phlebotomists, medical technician, or a nurse.

It is indeed a great show to drive the audience to a dramatic impact however producers, scriptwriters, and directors do not have any license to spoil the facts just for the sake of entertainment knowing that many people are greatly influenced by media especially through movies and televisions.
