To correct this situation, you will need to be sure that the power supply is off to the system at the electrical box. After that, you can safely feel around for foreign objects. Feel where the grinding takes place.

If the flywheel gets stuck:

When this gets stuck, the motor will just hum. The reset button or the breaker blowing should shut it off. This protects the motor.

Even when you are very sure that the power supply is off to the unit, never put your hand into the chamber where the grinding takes place. You can use a wrench to get into the flywheel turning hole. If the flywheel is not the problem then a bearing in the motor has seized and unfortunately it is time to replace the unit.
