Home Security, The Castle Doctrine And You
The famous expression 'go ahead and make my day' by legendary Clint Eastwood formed
the basis for so called 'make my day laws' and subsequent Castle Doctrine Law. They are great laws but vary so much from state to state that it can be problematic.
Recently in Oklahoma an incident involved a home invasion, shooting of the perp and his subsequent death brought the need to know the Castle Doctrine in your state and how it can effect your home security.
The Castle Laws or Doctrine allow you to protect your primary residence from "illegal trespass or violent attack even with deadly force"
Until all states pass Castle laws you need to know that there are slight variations in states that have them and not every state has them.
The potential problem lies in where you are. If you are in a non Castle law state and use deadly force to protect your home and family you could be prosecuted. Not right you say! I agree but like so many things in life that aren't fair. Knowing the law definitely determines how you approach your home security and defending your home-if you can even use deadly force or not.
Deadly force isn't for everyone. That is where non lethal self defense products like stun guns and tasers come in. They will stop a home invader flat out.
They are a great alternative to deadly force. Their purpose is to disable an invader and allow you time to get away to call for help or just get away. It is the perfect way to defend your castle for many. Get some non lethal self defense products to defend your castle.
This may be seen by some as tough to do. Maybe so! If you believe in the right to defend yourself-one of the principles of free society-but not in using deadly force the choice seems clear.
I urge all homeowners to check their local laws and see where your state stands on this important issue. The information you gain may help you form a strategy for defending yourself your family and your home.
If you don't have the Castle doctrine in your state you may want to get with your lawmakers and get it going-a very worthwhile project.
If you are in the market for a self defense product look for quality, effectiveness, and a biggie-LEGALITY. Stun guns are not legal in some states. Some states have restrictions on pepper sprays. Check with your local police department first before you get one.
If you are reading this chances are crime has somehow touched your life directly or indirectly thru relatives, friends or neighbors. Don't become the next victim. Take some action today and protect yourself with some non lethal self defense products.
