Home Security-home Invasions-the Easiest Way To Prevent Them

Home security is a huge problem these days United States with as many as one out of six homes a victim of burglary on an annual basis

. Burglary is one thing but home invasions have started to become the crime of choice for many of the bad guys. It differs from burglary in several ways.

First of all is usually committed by two or more people unlike burglary which is usually done by a single person. It is deliberately done when the homeowners are there as opposed to a burglary where the burglars pick a home that is unoccupied. And lastly burglars do not want any confrontation. They wanted to simply steal their stuff and get out. Home invaders count on intimidation and threats and even physical violence to the homeowners to get what they want.

That is why I consider much more heinous crime and potentially life-threatening. There is a case recently of the home invasion in Connecticut that made national news. The home invader killed three of the home occupants are nearly the fourth. He was recently sentenced to life in prison.

There are several things that you can do to prevent a home burglary like locking all your doors and windows, joining or starting a neighborhood watch program or putting a sign in your front yard warning of a vicious guard dog. These are all free and very effective.

Home invasion is little bit different. Almost all home invasions happen right through the front door. So the easy way to prevent a home invasion is to use your peephole. It sounds overly simple and it is. But that's why you have one. Use it! I know I'm guilty of reflexively opening my door whenever somebody knocks, but trust me that is a wrong thing to do . Once one of the bad guys have an inch of an open door it doesn't take much to get in.

If you want to spend some money, for less than $100.00 you can get a home security camera and put one by your front door. That sends a signal to burglars and home invaders to stay away.

When are you getting one?

If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!

Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of a home security camera.
