Recently I did a good favour for a very old buddy of mine; he had promised to take

care of his two grandkids for an afternoon, entirely forgetting that he had a doctor's appointment to keep. As the appointment was just a routine one and wasn't going to take very long I volunteered to take care of the young ones whilst he was out. Because my house is adjacent to the medical centre it was simpler for him to bring them around to my house, they were actually quite old enough to understand the arrangements and they know me well as we've been with each other before on many occasions.

Being a regular walker and open-air type I decided that the best method to spend the time would be an amble through the local nature reserve with binoculars to see what wildlife we all could identify. Once the allotted time came around though the heavens had opened, the rainfall being so hard that my little adventure was totally washed out. As all of this had been a hurried arrangement the boys had not arrived with anything with which to entertain themselves, so naturally it was a cry of what should we do Bruno?

Thinking very fast I thought of my own childhood wet afternoon activities, but my suggested game of Ludo or cards was met with pained looks of bewilderment. Now even though I've got a pc, I do not own any games or software on it with the potential to entertain two twelve-year-old children, therefore I suggested we have a look online for experiences that a modern day child might experiment with to pass an afternoon (not necessarily a rainy one).
