In other words, if a website owner decides to use your article on his site, you get a link back to your website from there. You do not only drive traffic back to your website from the article directories, but also get traffic from other people's websites as well.

That is just for one article submitted to one article directory. What if you have submitted hundred articles to hundred article directories? That is ten thousand back links to your website! Not to mention that countless other people will also take your articles and publish them on their websites as well. Article marketing is highly targeted.
