How Can I Maintain My Leather Boots For Years To Come?!?

Leather is one of the best boot materials in the world

. It's incredibly lustrous and could end up lasting for years and years, but you have to take care of them to ensure they stay in good shape! There are quite a few products available in order to keep your boots pristine and shining. The first one is a boot rain protector. These boot rain protectors are worn over your shoes or boots to protect them from rain and moisture. They come in an array of styles, but I really like the 100% waterproof polyester with PVC backing ones since they look a little less "weird" than some of the other ones that are available.

The other ones look like you took a trash bag and put it over your boots, kind of odd looking! The next thing to look into is leather cream. To keep the material in good condition, buy some leather cream, you can purchase them in the color of your leather boots or in a neutral shade which you will be able to use on any leather. Using a soft cloth, dab it into the leather cream and apply to your boots, this will keep the leather soft and conditioned so it will not get any cracks, dry out or look worn out. When it is dry, using another cloth, gently buff it in circular motions, this will make your leather boots shine.

Next, make sure you store your boots correctly when you aren't using them. If possible, don't place other shoes on top of your boots which could cause them to get creases or ruin the shape of the boot! Store them in an upright position away from other shoes. Also, you can consider buying a shoe tree of some sort. Only insert the shoe tree when your shoes are dry. It'll hold back the shape of your leather boots and preclude crinkles from happening thus making your leather boots looking in a pristine condition!

If your shoes do get wet, and hopefully you have some kind of a waterproof protection on them, make sure that you get the wetness off of them before storing them anywhere - have it be on a shoe tree or right at your front door. Getting the water off of them now will cause less problems for you in the future! Make sure your leather boots especially are not placed in front of any heat sources such as a furnace or a fireplace, this could end up melting the shoe and then where will you be?!?
