My graduation is this Sunday and I have a cold sore

, its just starting out and for the past 2 days Ive been putting abreva on it but its not really helping :( my cold sores usually get a lot worse and I dont want to have a big disgusting cold sore for graduation pictures, please help! How Can I Make A Cold Sore Go Away Faster ?

There are many things you can do to make your cold sore go away faster : Like all amino acids, lysine functions as a building platform for proteins. Lysine is key in the production of disease fighting antibodies, numerous enzymes, and hormones. Lysine insures the adequate absorption of calcium; helps form collagen that makes up bone cartilage and connective tissues.

In several studies, Lysine has shown to be effective against herpes by improving the balance of nutrients necessary to reduce viral growth of the herpes virus. A deficiency of Lysine has been found to cause tiredness, lack of concentration, irritability, hair loss, anemia and reproductive problems. It has also been reported that too little lysine in a diet can result in kidney stones.

What works with some people does not work for others. I have found huge success with a simple Lysine tablet taken at the first sign of "tingling". It always nips it in the bud and keeps a breakout from happening. You can get Lysine supplements at your local grocery store in the vitamin section. You have to keep trying different things until you find what works for you. Zovirax is rubbish, unfortunately it's the only thing with the clinical trials and data to back it up, but it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to me and its so dam expensive!

I've been plagued with cold sores for years which have got worse and worse, and tried just about everything. My last resort was these protein tablets called L-Lysine, you get them from Holland and Barrett and apparently they 'starve' the cold sore of the other proteins it needs to build itself and give you the proteins you need to build up the anti-bodies (I'm not a doctor, so if this sounds too simplistic to medically trained people, sorry).

I took like 6 of them on day 1 then a couple a day for the next 2-3 days, and the cold sore hardly came up at all and then went within a day. I've not had a cold sore AT ALL for about 18 months (used to get them every 2-3 months). Don't know if it will work for everyone, but definitely did it for me! Give it a go, its better than 6 quid on Zovirax.
