In the past it was easy for people to make a choice about a driveway material - it was either concrete or asphalt
. Today with so many different materials including brick, stone and slate builders of concrete driveways have to keep up. While most people still choose the standard grey concrete, they also have other choices as well. Concrete is no longer just the plain slab it used to be - thee are various designs and even colors from which homeowners can now choose in order to enhance the look of their new driveways.
Over the years concrete has had to make changes in order to compete with the other materials that are on the market. The competition has become stiffer and as such all driveway material makers need to make sure they are able to keep up with the market. Brick makers have to come up with colors and smoother surfaces, stone makers have to create different designs and shapes and concrete makers have to be able to create designs within the surfaces in order to enhance their marketability. Homeowners are no longer satisfied with just an ordinary driveway - they want something that is going to speak out, something with a personality.
Does that mean that ordinary concrete driveways are obsolete? Not at all - many people still prefer the ordinary either by choice or because they don't want to invest extra cash into something more distinctive. It does mean, however, that no matter what the material is there is the need for the manufacturers to be able to provide homeowners with unique and distinctive products. Most homeowners are looking for something different, even those who still prefer concrete.
