How Debating the Origin of Species Could Accelerate the End of Species

Those in favor of creationism, for the most part

, believe in a divine formation of human life. Rooted in the Old Testament's book of Genesis, the belief that human life is directly descended from God's creation of a male, Adam, and a female, Eve. The belief is also that God spent seven days creating all that is known, including the skies, the oceans, vegetation, and animals belonging to both the sea and land.

Evolutionists, on the other hand, hold the theory proposed by Charles Darwin that humans are descendants of a complex scientific process called evolution. A more specific term for Charles Darwin Evolution is Natural Selection, meaning that beneficial traits of specific species are passed along generationally until a variant species is created. In the evolutionists' proposal, the origin of the human species is descended from what are know in modern day terms as primates.

Two extremes, each having passionate supporters who battle lifetimes over convincing themselves and others that their view is absolutely right. The true issue though is being ignored and this ignorance is causing a distraction from problems more important than the origin of species.

What about the end of species?

With the current rate of environmental defamation, great apes will go extinct in our lifetimes. They are not the only ones. A list compiled at the EarthsEndangered website reflects that as of May 2010 there are 5,746 endangered plant species and 10,801 endangered animal species. A staggering fact that deserves attention. Maybe with more awareness, the evolution vs. creationism debate will subside, giving way to a more progressive expense of energy.
