Use this to learn as much as possible and build a profile of the person you are dating. Trust comes in time when you can safely say that you haven't been lied to. It takes time but you can speed up the process by actively looking for the lies and untruth that you are being told. Remember that you only need to find one lie to throw everything else you have been told into question.
Call the college where he said he has studied to confirm that he did attend. Call his employer to verify that he does work there. You can call the main number and ask to speak to him. They will tell you if they don't know him.

There are all sorts of background checking that you can do by consulting an online public records web site. You can even check marriage and divorce records but you don't have to stop there. Use public records web sites to find out if he has a criminal record or arrest records and much more.
