How Do You Get Rid Of Spaces Between Teeth?

Lots of people are born with spaces between their teeth

. This is a problem that many people want to have corrected, and many Palatine dentists regularly face questions about how to correct this type of a problem. Normally this problem occurs between the two upper teeth, and dentists see this problem quite often. The term for this gap is a Diastema. When people are young, they naturally have this condition, and usually as the adult teeth come into place the teeth correct themselves and gaps disappear. When they don't, people often turn to their dentists to try and get the problem addressed.

The normal course of treatment for this type of problem is going to be braces. Just as braces are used to straighten teeth which have not grown in the proper alignment, they can also be used to help close the gaps which exist between teeth where there should be none. Essentially, the braces slowly force the teeth to shift, pulling them into the proper position. Braces do require frequent visits to the dentist so that they can be adjusted to achieve the proper results. They often take some time to create the desired effect. They are the best and most natural option though, and people are most often happiest with the results that are created with braces. It is also a good option because it affects the actual tooth structure the least in the end.

Veneers can also be used to address this situation in certain cases. Veneers are not going to be a good solution in every case. Their suitability will be based on the location of the gap in your teeth, and the size of it. A good cosmetic dentist should be able to provide you with a consultation and let you know if veneers are a viable option for closing the gap in your teeth. The problem with veneers is that they often require some shaping to be done to the teeth before they are applied, effectively altering permanently the basis structure of your teeth.

In other situations, a crown and bridge will be required to fix the gap. This is a traditional solution that might be used for larger gaps, or for gaps which were not naturally caused, but instead created due to injury. This is an effective solution, but again, requires considerable alteration to be done to the existing structure of the teeth.
