How Does Green Manure Secure Garden Growth?

Having a spacious garden around your home is one of the biggest blessings you can have

, especially if you are a senior. There is so much time on hand that you really don't know what to do. How about adding green manure to your garden? Soils of various types are necessary for growing shrubs as well as trees.

Before the tree is actually planted it is very necessary to check the type of soil it is going to be planted in. If a lawn has to be created then the type of digging necessary will be different as compared to digging process for a flower bed. Usually it is necessary to dig deep up to at least twenty four inches so that the saplings can be planted well.

Talking 'manure' for better gardening

A lot of work is involved in rejuvenating the soil in your garden area. Lumps if any should be thoroughly broken down first. At the bottom a layer of ash, sand as well as cinders needs to be placed. To improve the quality of the soil, a great addition would be peat, clippings of grass which has been mowed down, compost, dried leaves, manure, etc. Top layer of the soil should be kept ready for plantation purpose all the time.

Depending on the requirement of the soil, you can consider adding different types of layers to the soil. For loosening up the soil, you can even consider lime which can be added as and when needed. Roots of a plant are very delicate in nature and hence it must be ensured that the manure does not touch them. Acidic levels in the soil need to be tested with the help of testing kits meant especially for soils only.

Instead of adding chemicals to the soil, a better idea would be adding green manure as this is organic in nature. Alkaline levels as well as acidic levels in the soil can be neutralized by using organic materials only. Depending on the acidity level in the soil, limestone can be added accordingly. The soil should be able to absorb all the nutrients added, after which the garden can be maintained for plantation. For a green thumb it is easier to understand the importance of layering with green and organic manure. The merging of the natural substances fosters faster and healthy growth of the plants. Raked leaves and garden residue works wonders on new growth!
