These lock the window, but they also keep the sash together and give a fit that is tight enough to prevent the drafts from seeping through the window.

Double hung windows are used in a variety of ways. They can be doubled, used as a single unit, or can be arranged in groups of three or more. Some people even gain a window wall by using a double hung window on either side of a stationary window. This is a beautiful effect that can enhance the beauty of any home.
