How Green Are You? Led Light Bulbs
In this modern day and age there are a number of major influences that affect both businesses and people in general
. The 'credit crunch' and the pursuit of a 'greener', more eco friendly country are uppermost in our thoughts and as a business owner they are of huge concern as the government applies more and more pressure.
So, how do we tackle these issues and what can we do as home owners or business owners, well the first thing to do is try to make cut backs in the amount of energy that we use and keep the energy costs at home or in our place of business to a minimum. This is not such a challenge anymore as it is possible to purchase and fit LED light bulbs quite simply and for a low price (at least at the moment).
As aforementioned, it doesn't matter whether you are a business or home owner; the LED light bulbs are a great way to cut costs. The reason is that these bulbs are designed to conserve heat, and therefore energy. If you think about all of the different lighting options that you have in the home or at the office, you will see that there is also a wide range of bulbs that are used.
Most commonly used in the home are the incandescent bulbs that have been around for decades in one way or another. These bulbs come in two forms; the twist and lock-in types (often called the bayonet bulb) and the screw format that simply screw into the fitting. The draw back to the incandescent bulb in comparison with the LED light bulbs is that they lose a lot of energy through heat loss. Just think about how hot the bulbs get when they have been on for a while. They are simply too hot to touch. The LED light bulbs lose significantly less energy through heat loss and as such represent a better and more energy and cost efficient lighting option.
In the office you will see many strip lights, these too lose a lot of heat but also because of the design of the tube bulb, they require a lot of energy to turn on. Once on they use a small amount of energy but still lose heat and therefore have a reduced efficiency. So by replacing these bulbs with LED light bulbs you will be able to make significant savings both on your own emissions as well as on your utility bills. These savings satisfy both of the primary concerns that were identified at the start of this article.
As a home owner or business owner, being more energy efficient is always an advantage not only from an outside perspective (more advantageous for the business owner as clients expect the companies that they deal with to be green), but also within the company or home. When the bills come in you will notice that the savings that you have made will help to offset the cost of replacing your exiting lighting with LED light bulbs.
