How Hydroponics Came Into Existence?

It has been and even now is a common misconception that plants need soil and sunlight

for their growth and that any other circumstances would endanger their life. But, in fact there is variety of solutions that can be easily adopted for the plants to grow. This result is from the historical conclusion some of the experts gave and thereby provided various means to grow plants. Hydroponics is one of the ways where the plants grow easily without any difficulty.

The hydroponics to define is an art of growing plants without the use of soil. The soil in here is replaced by water as the name suggests. It is another misconception that the indoor gardeners those who grow hydroponics are that this method is recent and is a modern way of growing the plants. But, to be frank from the ancient times these methods were adopted actually for growing foods when there was no other way out. But, this method got its clarity and name during the 1940s. Dr. William Gericke consolidated this methods name with the logic that Water is involved and it has some work to do. So, hydro came from water and promos came from work which it means and hence Hydroponics.

In 1600, Jan Van Helmont, observed and concluded that the plants take their nutrients from the rainwater and not the soil. This laid the first stone for the discovery of hydroponics. Exactly which nutrients and minerals are needed for the growth of the plants became the huge concern for centuries. Finally in the mid 1800s, German botanist Wilhelm Knop, prepared a full char of the nutrients and the minerals the plants would need from the water. By this chart, they would be able to grow hydroponics easily.

The plants are considered to take carbon dioxide and use it for the photosynthesis process and the oxygen is exhaled from the plants. This is one of the major findings from the scientists about plants. Secondly, there are lots of evolutions with time for the hydroponics, considering the elements used by the plants. The plants are considered to do their basic process of making food in the presence of sun-light. This brought the scientist to draw the conclusions about why they need sunlight and the result seems clear. Now, there can be a possible arrangement for the plants to grow indoors by using the growing lights that are available in the market. The growing light is completely a different discovery altogether and needs a thorough knowledge about how to choose a growing lights for your plants.

The process to grow hydroponics is a historical process but it certainly gained popularity in the recent times when people find it hard to grow plants outside due to either less space or bad climatic conditions.
