How I Met My Husband
Before i enlighten upon why i call my blog what i call and give specific reasons and thoughts which overworked their way during the christening process, I just would like to know exactly how many days, months, years pass before a girl accepts the fact that she wants get or stay married for the right reasons. Right reasons cannot be good guys do not hang in for you forever, you will loose all the good men and end up with a disinterested guy who is on threshold of midlife crisis and has paunch resembling a full term pregnancy ( only that there is no delivery ever) or you wont be young forever or the bio clock is ticking away... so get married and bear those children before it is too late.
Right reasons should be to experience the feeling of being married.. willingness to take that responsibility without complaining...andI could list 100 reasons butI have just one. I was all twenty nine and agreed to start the rigmarole of meeting guys and agree for any suitable boy my family decides upon, when I came across a poster which listed ten rules to lead a happy life. First rule was to marry the right person and second to tenth rule were to follow rule number one. In short to be happy for the rest of your life marry the right person.
And thus started a journey. Destination- right guy ( marriagable material... pls note that the product is better custom made). But there was a problem to this so called travel plan....there was no fixed road. In short like the school graffiti i used to write.... a girl has to kiss many toads before coming across the prince charming. Kissing toads... yeaaw! But that is what most people reduce themselves to. And for godsake why? Because these toads ( the morons who distract us during our determined mission ) do not physically appear like their reptile clan. Or maybe they do and we in our effort to find the right to get married and settle down with, ignore the inital warning signs.
Hmmm.... I will just bother to say I dint let myself be bothered with too many heartaches.I was good at learning by watching others go through the trauma of bad relationships. And one more reason for actually saving myself, could be a fact that I was just a plane jane, to the point of being written off as a ugly duckling.
Before I proceed further on this blog...I request my readers to bear with me whileI go back and forth while narrating my downpour.
NowI will come back to the very reasonI started this blog... howI met my husband. WellI am not yet married and there is no confirmation from this guy about marrying me... but still something tells meI am marrying him no matter what and have started this blog to pen down all my thoughts... more as an exercise to clear my head.
Let me start with the fact that I met my husband( for now lets stick to calling this person as husband than husband to be) on 6th July 2009, that was just over a month after i turned thirty one. It was a meeting arranged by one of my relative. An all family meeting at my place or lets say my parents place ( i still live my parents and will continue to do so till i get married). From my husbands end, the entourage was big, comprising of his closest kin. We were asked to use the terrace to know each other better. And after fighting my dogs who normally block the way up to the terrace, my husband said how important his family was to him and how he expected his wife to be nice to them. He also pointed out that his work entailed him to go to late night parties and he was no teetotaller. As he was pretty straight forward, I lost no opportunity to point to him that i was in a financial mess. After answering few other questions, we were informed that the guys side will get in touch with us in few days. Three days later they did, to inform us that they are interested to take it forward. As they say whatever will be, will be. Once they left, I had no energy left in my cerebral space to fight some of my family members who considered the guy as total misfit for me. He was ten years older to me. When they called to enquire about our opinion, considering a lot of domestic reasons and a close kins death, our answer was stiff silence. From then on perhaps every month Iprodded the very family members who were against this alliance to look at the silver lining or the better qualities of the person. Here was a man who was so concerned about the well being of his family and was someone who strives from nobody to someone with a secure life. What i could see was emotionally and financially stable person. That being the main pivotal point that I cared for, I had to choose to ignore any other disqualifications. Almost an year and half later,a lady engaged in matching profiles for matrimony, met me at the house of a relative. She informed me about the same alliance as that of my husband. After talking to my family once again, I asked them to approach my husbands side. I can least say our approach was welcomed. After cajoling and explaining by each and every member in my family that we were interested but our silence was due to the loss of a relative, my husbands family had slowly come around. And a one more meeting to clarify the air was to be set between us. This time my husbands family wanted to come around New Years time but they finally arrive in the second week of February this year. I repeated the same clarification once again ( had to as my husbands still feels I rejected him initially and was set to marry him upon family pressure and I keep wishing that he would know that it is other way round). They were to let us know what they feel like. When no call came through, one of my uncle placed the call and was met with an answer that everyone is pretty all right with the prospect and were waiting for my husband to confirm the same. It is third week in February and i am still waiting for his response. While waiting for his yes, I have shopped for my engagement dress and the ring that my husband will bear.
