How Important It Is To Backup Your Website

It is unquestionable that we all desire security

. As stated in Maslow's hierarchy of needs security is something that us humans need to satisfy next to our physiological needs. In a event wherein our job, business and financial stability are on the line comes a great need to take precautionary actions in securing ourselves.We consider precautionary measures in protecting ourselves to prevent situations wherein our business, financial stability etc. are in jeopardy hence in a case of an online business we make backups of our data and websites.

Back then in my school days it is the advent of floppy disks as a storage medium. creating backup does not even cross my mind. This is what happened:I had a school project that should be stored and submitted on floppy drives. I got the project done, saved it on my floppy storage disk then submitted it. Inadvertently the file that I submitted, the only copy, corrupted. Shortly after I've got the greatest humiliation of my life: receiving a failure mark in a project for the first time.

I did learn using that unpleasant incident, at the moment whenever I have an important task I always see to it that I take extra precautions and create backup of my file whenever possible.

Now, this got me interested, because in reality some people still won't practice such precautions with their websites. In fact some owners does not create scheduled website backups, some owners do not even backup at all.

Have a look at this analogy: Real life businesses highly value their establishment, client and employee security realizing that they are the root of a businesses success.; The web venture is not so different. In an internet business it is their data and user base that drives their success; I wonder why some owners do not take such measures and backup their website or database files when their source of income is always at the risk of failures and malicious attacks.

If you take a good look at the situation it is no different at all. A website owner needs to protect his data as much as real life business owners need to protect their office documents. After all the database is all that a web owner has as opposed to real life businesses who has written records along with a database.

The website data files is all that you have to keep your web 2.0 website, business or blog running so why not backup? Every bit of effort and hard work you had put into your website is worth the backup. Your website and your community doesn't deserve a disastrous breakdown so backup now to protect your data.
