How Internet Marketing Helps People In Creating Wealth From Home
What are the differences in standard brick and mortar businesses of today
, verses the same types of businesses of yesteryear? Well it's no mystery, the Internet. A few months ago, I needed to replace a stove top electric element. So what did I do about it?
Well I went to Home Depot, I went to Lowes, no luck in getting the style and brand I needed, though they did have stove top heating elements to their credit. I then went to a local dealer in town who buys, repairs and sells used appliances. Yes they could get one for me the next day for $45.
That seemed rather expensive to me as I had already Google searched the item in question and found it on eBay. Are you ready for the price? $6 that is six dollars. With $12 shipping and handling a grand total price of $18. Now why I had not bid on that originally is because I thought if I could find it locally it would be a faster repair. Simply go buy it, bring it home and install it.
So I "bought it now" off of eBay. It arrived a week or so later. Now who was the seller that he had that part on hand. Well he lived in Illinois, where I live in Oklahoma. The seller owned a some kind of hardware store, that do believe specialized in appliance parts.
They were a brick and mortar business that in years before the internet would have been limited to their local area to do business in. But because of the internet, they were allowed to tap into the world wide market of people who needed specialized appliance parts. Now the part I needed went to a stove that was pretty old, probably 15 years or older, get my point.
Let me give you another personal example. Approximately a year ago I bought a used Ford Windstar van. It looked sharp, ran great and the air conditioning blew ice cold. Now it was early in October and believe me there was plenty of sunshine and reason to still use the a/c. But later in the month pushing Halloween it got kind of chilly one night. I had the grand kids and went to initiate the heater, well it didn't come on. The air was still coming out cold and there was a strange thumping noise coming from beneath the dash panel.
Long story short, I Google searched the problem. I found a specialized company in Texas. Now this is great true example of perfect niche marketing of some one creating wealth from home. A man and his son, manufacturing and selling an improved metal core heater blend door, and upgraded actuator motors that open and close the blend doors.
Now apparently several models of Fords and Jeeps have a problem of the stock plastic blend doors getting brittle from the exposure of heat and cold that they break at the pivot areas. Sometimes the stock actuator motors strips a gear due to blend door impingement.
Now the owner of this business operates all his advertising from a very simplistic website and does all his advertising online. He has on that site, several You Tube videos that he filmed of himself installing their new improved blend doors in some of the types of vehicles that had this problem.
He made me an offer, that he would repair my vehicle for free, no cost what so ever if I would allow him to make a step by step video of the repair. You see he did not have a repair video of a Ford Windstar.
So I drove down from OK to TX and he installed a new all metal blend door and new actuator motor. Thinking I had gotten a great deal and wanting to be helpful, I offered to hold his camera or assist. But he said it wasn't necessary. He filmed it with a simple cell phone camera. He also told me that he expected to make upwards of $100 k off of sales from the video of my Windstar.
I was flabbergasted. He did the work in his driveway. I have to say the home and property were very nice. I would estimate the value of his property at least $350k in a very plush well manicured neighborhood with plenty of tall mature shade trees that just added a touch of serenity to the area.
This is a modern day internet marketing, niche marketing success story that all the guru's say is possible; that you can find a small niche tap into it and get rich. Well all I can say is this man and his son were living the dream.
You see the point I am making, is this type of business couldn't have existed 25 years ago. It is alive and thriving today due to the advent of the internet. Chris the owner of this business as many other businesses are able to reach out to many new clients every single day because the internet makes it possible.
They are a physical brick and mortar business that advertise and market exclusively online to draw in their potential new clients. Like me, most customers with this very specific niche heater / a/c problem after visiting his website, give him a call where orders are placed. Though the website was more than capable to take and process orders.
In my case, I just felt the need to discuss the problem first. During his repair, he took a break to answer the phone and discuss a similar repair and order with another customer. Most of his business is sending out the product to the customer after they have ordered.
Some people would say that putting your business online is not an easy task. Well in someways that may be true. It can be as hard and as difficult as you want to make it. But with the above example, a very simplistic website targeted to a very specific niche problem is affording this gentlemen a very comfortable living.
A lot of people who enter internet marketing with the dreams of creating wealth from home, see this product or that product and think how could I sell this to people. But the truly successful marketers go after a market that already exists.
What exactly is a market? It is simply defined, people wanting something, desiring something. This could be a luxury frivolous desire or a very real problem that needs solved. A lot of people would be considered a large market.
So if you are entering into internet marketing consider that. Look for markets that already exist, real markets that have buyers who are buying a product or service in that market everyday. Look for niches of that market that are in demand for one reason or another.
It is often the niches of markets that are the easiest for individuals to exploit. The benefits if they are not well known include there will be less competition if any, and that they will be less expensive to advertise in some respects.
