How Is Jiaozi Invented

Jiaozi is a kind of traditional Chinese food. How to make jiaozi? First make dumpling wrappers out of flour. Then cut meat and cabbages into slices. The stuffing is made by slices adding some seasoning. The last step is to boil jiaozi until it is floating on the surface of water.

The original name of Jiaozi is "jiaoer", which is invented by a Chinese miracle-working doctor named Zhang Zhongjing.

At last years of East Han Dynasty, there were many disasters in China, and many people got sick. In Nanyang, there was a very hard-working doctor named Zhang Zhongjing who was very familiar with medical books and later became the founder of traditional Chinese medical science. Zhang was not only very skillful but also kind-hearted. No matter you were poor or not, he treated his patients equally and save the lives of many people.

When Zhang was a government official in Changsha, a sort of pest prevailed and the ears of many people were ulcerated. Zhang was too sad to see these victims of natural calamity. So he made up his mind to come up with an idea to solve such a problem. He built a shed and set up a pot therein. Because he planned to present medicines to those victims whose ears were ulcerated.

The way to boil mutton, pepper and medicines that can dispel cold together in the pot. After they were totally boiled, he fished them out and cut the materials into slices. Then he wrapped the slices with wrapper and made the shape like an ear. Zhang divided the food to patients after fully cooking. The patients warmed up and their blood flew more quickly. Ater a period of time, their illness was finally cured.

Zhang presented medicines till the last day of that year. In order to celebrate the New Year, people imitated the shape of "jiaoer" to cook the festival food. They have "jiaoer " for breakfast in the New Year. Gradually, the food wins a lot of names like jiaozi, jizoer and assistant food. People want to commemorate the days when Zhang helped them so that the tradition of eating jiaozi in the beginning of a year passed on till now.

Nowadays, we do not need jiaozi to cure the disease of ears, but the love of Zhang can not be forgotten. Besides, jiaozi is very delicious and become the favorite food of many modern people.
