How To Be A Loud And Proud Conservative

In our current political situation, it very often seems as though our country's liberals

(or "progressives," as they insist on being called now) have the upper hand not only in government but truly across the board. You can hardly have a conversation these days without having someone rail at you for expressing a more conservative view.

I am absolutely serious when I say that some of our liberties are being eroded through leftist bullying. I have been insulted every which way when I have expressed my views, and so I have been hesitant to be a loud-and-proud conservative. But that needs to change--for all of us.

First of all, put your money where your mouth is--literally. Conservatives are typically associated with the religious sector of society, and we are therefore often noted for our charitable giving.

This is obviously a positive thing, but you should extend those charitable gifts to new causes. Even if you don't have a lot to give, you might consider funding reputable organizations that support the ideologies you espouse.

But when I say "reputable," I mean it. Even among people that believe much the same as we do, there can be inscrutable behavior and sometimes violence.

For example, many people across the nation have gotten a negative picture of "pro-lifers," because of bombings and murders associated with abortion clinics. So do your research before sending money to any institution.

Participate in rallies and protests in your area. If you are going to make a difference, you have to be willing to "come out of the closet," as a conservative, so to speak. You have to develop courage to be seen in public, openly fighting for what you really believe in. But be sure to do so in a rational and legal manner.

Spend time volunteering for local candidates during election and re-election campaigns. Do your research to find out their stances on important issues so that you can have frank conversations with your fellow citizens and give them honest answers when they ask questions.

Don't be afraid to indirectly announce who you are and what you believe in. Placing bumper stickers on your car, pitching campaign signs on your front lawn, and wearing a conservative t-shirt while cruising the mall are all great ways to let people know what you stand for.

Although it is difficult to really stick to your guns when your beliefs are "out of fashion," it has never been more important. So stand up for what you believe in and be a loud and proud in your conservatism.
