How To Beat The Winter Blues With Drawing
Do you remember getting the winter blues as a child
? I can almost guarantee that you cannot. The reason you did not get the winter blues as a child was because you loved the winter as much as spring and summer. What happened? You got older and found yourself a lot more in demand, you now have a job and you may be a parent or spouse. We all have stress and responsibilities, but some of us handle every day living better then others, a great way to beat stress and the winter blues is by using a hobby, such as drawing.
We all can draw, but like any activity or hobby, some people can do it better then others because of practice, and the more you draw, the better you will get. To get started with drawing you only need 2 things to begin with, paper and a pencil with an eraser on it. Drawing is one hobby that can usually be done at the start anyway, with items found in most homes, so it's a very inexpensive hobby for mostly everyone. Now, if you want, you can head to the nearest art supply store and buy yourself a sketch or drawing pad, they come in all sizes, you may also want to buy a few pencils, usually Number 2, hardness is standard, and a nice pencil eraser.
Once you get your drawing supplies and are home on them cold winter days with nothing to do, it's time to start beating the winter blues. You may think that you cannot draw good, or you have nothing to think of as a subject. I want to tell you that if you can write your name, or sketch, you can draw. Were not talking about having to be a professional artist or a master, were talking about having a hobby and enjoying it during them cold boring winter days, so you have something to do. Just draw whatever you want and have fun doing it. You can draw winter scenes of snowy hills or a snowman, or pine trees with snow covered branches, or draw bright, warm and sunny summer scenes.
Once you get the hang of it, you may find that you are a lot better at drawing then you thought. If you want to you can always frame your drawings to hang in your home, or give them to friends and family members as gifts. You can even take your framed drawings to area restaurants or Hospitals to have them displayed on their walls, for prospective customers to purchase. Now when the cold weather of winter keeps you shut inside with nothing to do, grab your paper, pencils and eraser and pass the time away by drawing, it's a great way to beat the winter blues.
