How To Build Professional Web Pages Using Microsoft Word

1. Starting out
Start by simply opening Microsoft Word via the Start Menu or from a shortcut on your desktop. The first step from here is to open up a blank page, and then select one of the given templates. Depending on your version of Microsoft Word, make sure you click 'view', then choose 'Web Layout'.
2. Adding Page Text
Inputting page text to the document, for the aim of creating web pages, is much the same as the usual drill. First of all, you'll need to settle on the structure and basic layout of the page you're going to create. Then continue on by selecting the various colors and fonts for your page text. when choosing fonts and colors, make sure you choose these based on good visual aspect, which is easy to read.
For the home page of your website, you should include basic details at the top of the page such as your business name, contact details, hours of operation, and trading address.
3. Adding Pictures and Images
In order to add some creativity, and to stamp your uniqueness on your website, adding pictures and images is an important step. To start adding pictures to a webpage, first click on the area where you'd like to insert the picture, then simply click insert from the menu bar at the top of the page. Inserting a picture from your computer can be done by clicking on the picture button. You'll also be able to edit the image, by using edit options within the menu bar.
4. Adding Links
Adding links to your web pages is also a critical requirement, and can be done using the menu bar options. To add a link to your text and images, simply highlight the text, or select the image, then click on the hyperlink button - which is located in the 'insert' tab. From this point, insert your targeted link into the address box to finish the process.
You can further highlight your text link by selecting various fonts, heading styles and color options.
5. Lastly, Saving the Document Correctly
This last step invloves saving your document in the correct manner. This step is very important, as you'll need to save the document so it converts to the correct format. In doing this, simply select the 'File' button and choose 'Save as'. Next, add the name of the file. You will then need to decide where to save the file. Accordingly, scroll down to 'webpage' and save this option.
To view the finished product, you will need to download an ftp file manager, (Filezilla is free) then upload the new page to your web server.
