Large families might buy the large models, while singles and small families normally do not need more than an 18-22 cubic feet model.

There is also a door-choice to consider. You can find refrigerators with top-mount (with the freezer above), bottom-mount (with the freezer below) and side-by-side doors. The advantage of the bottom-mount model is that the most used food is found in the eye-level.

Before buying a refrigerator, do your homework. Read ratings, reviews and consumer reports. Do also look at the price; including the shipping- and installation costs. If you do not mind, you can often find refrigerators with cosmetic defects at a much lower price.
