How To Check For Carbon Monoxide In Your Home

This is a something that we should all know about because if you breed in carbon

monoxide it can enter your lungs and displace oxygen from your bloodstream. If this happens and you do not have the right balance of oxygen for your vital organs, brain, heart start to suffer from nausea, dizziness, headaches and believe it or not possibly even death. There have been many cases over the years where this has happened and only recently there were reports in the news of exactly this.

Carbon monoxide is dangerous and is a killer of something that we should all be aware of. There are a number of danger signs that we can see around their home and is something that we should all be aware of. This is a colourless, tasteless and odourless gas and the more we understand about this and safer we are in our homes.

Some of the basic signs that are easy to observe that tells of the presence of this gas.

a) You should always check around your water heater, gas boiler and fire for signs of discoloration, staining and any sooting.

b) Sometimes you can be excessive compensation in the room where you have the appliance installed. Youll notice conversation around the appliance also on windows and doors. They are sometimes also a smell of smoke within the area.

c) When using gas we all know that the flame is mostly blue, if you start to notice the flame is more yellow orange this could be a sign that CO is present. We must also keep notes that some flame fires are set to show different colors so it may not always be the case with this type of functioning item. But, if you are in doubt by simply calling the support service of your gas supplier they will be able to answer your questions.

d) If youre finding that the pilot light on your cooker keeps going out this can also be a sign that CO is present.

What steps should you take if you suspect that carbon monoxide is present?

a) You should immediately switch off all appliances

b) Make sure to open all windows and doors and vacate the room as quick as possible.

c) You need to phone their gas emergency services, they will all have a 24 hour helpline

Its imperative that you annually have your past check in your home. Your gas service can actually supply the service through recommended contracts. There are also bound to be lots of competitors in this market in your local area. You need to make sure that you do this annually and any problems can be easily sorted
