How To Do An Ipod Touch Screen Replacement

These days, the iPod Touch is probably the most advanced of all of the iPod models as a result or its touch screen interface

. By simply wiping your finger, you are able to surf the Internet, play games, and search your media and music library. Because the touch screen is so high tech screen, one would believe that it would be impossible to replace a damaged or broken yourself. However, that is simply not true. With just a few simple tools and a few minutes, you can replace the iPod Touch screen. Its just that easy.

For this repair you will need a small Phillips head screwdriver, a plastic pry tool, and, of course, a replacement screen and the iPod Touch itself.

The first thing that you need to do is to release the back panel from the front panel by inserting the pry tool or flat head screwdriver in the seam that is located on the iPod Touchs side and running it along the length of the iPod Touch. If you dont have a plastic pry tool, you can us a small flat head screwdriver.

Run the plastic pry tool along the sides of the motherboard and carefully pull it up to remove the motherboard from the square battery in the front housing.


Expose 3 screws by removing the small piece of black tape from the bottom of the front housing.

Using the small Phillips head screwdriver, remove the 3 three screws. Also, remove the small screw that is located near the top of the battery connector ribbon. .

To expose the ribbon that connects the front housing to the motherboard and screen, using the plastic pry tool, remove the metal cover from the bottom of the front housing.

Remove the ribbon by flipping the screen connector ribbon up. Next, disconnect the other screen ribbon by removing e the 2 screws at the top of the front housing. This releases the thin metal board that that protects the touch screen. Carefully pull the metal board out.

From the side of the touch screen, remove the 16 small screws. After these screws are removed, the LCD screen will be free of the housing. Carefully remove the touch screen and use the new one to replace it. Replace all of the screws and put the iPod Touch back together in the reverse order from the way that you disassembled it.
