But basically, the tools you need include sheets of paper for binding into a book, bone folder, double-sided adhesive, heavy-weight papers for end pages, pencil, Jade glue, paint brush, headband tape, craft knife, acid-free binder?s board, book canvas, and iron-on transfer paper.

Now, the first thing that you should do is, of course, to collect all the sheets of paper that you wish to bind into a book. Fold the sheets in half, and arrange them according to how you intend them to appear in your book. Place the stack of folded pages on the edge of the table, with a quarter inch hanging off. Place several heavy books on top, and brush five coats of Jade glue onto the spine. Let it dry for about ten to fifteen minutes between coats. After drying, you can then add headband tape to both ends of the spine.

Make sure that you trim the edges of the pages with a craft knife. Also trim the binder?s board to make a front and back cover. Carefully measure the thickness of the pages, so that you can accurately cut your book cover to fit your pages. Glue everything together, and make sure that everything is tucked in correctly and securely. Once all sides are glued, do a final burnish all around with the bone folder.

Position the book pages within the covers, brush glue onto the back of the end page, and then carefully close the cover onto the page with glue. Remember to press down and to burnish the page onto the cover. Do this for the other end page as well. Let the glue dry for an hour, and while doing so, place several heavy books on top of the book.

This is one way on how to do book binding.
